WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The Fundamentals of Aquaponic Gardening
New to gardening or never raised fish before? No problem! Aquaponic Basics will introduce you to the core principles that allow fish, plants and bacteria to work together in a natural recirculating ecosystem.
Our class covers all of the basic information needed to design, build, and run your system successfully. We will address common plumbing configurations, component sizing options, and give you all the tips to avoid making common mistakes.
During the class you will see many different types of aquaponic systems from DIY units, fully engineered systems and large scale farms.

Tour Our Aquaponic Farms
We will take students on a behind the scenes tour of our two aquaponic farms only minutes apart in Denver. Each farm is uniquely different and we will review how the farms were designed, built, managed and how they are serving the community.

GeoTech Environmental Center

Classroom Instruction will take place at the GeoTech Environmental Center in beautiful Denver, Colorado. We will then visit the farms for hands-on sessions with our fish and plants!
TIME
9am – 5pm
PARKING
The parking lot at GeoTech will be vacant for all students to park.
LUNCH
Lunch will be provided both days (we will contact you closer to the workshop date to take your order and any dietary restriction notes!)

GeoTech is only 21 miles from Denver International Airport and right off of I-70 and Steele Street.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations will receive a full refund up to two weeks before class. Less than two weeks before class the refund will be 50%. Less than 48 hours before class there are no refunds. We reserve the right to cancel class if enrollments are low. If you are flying in, please consider purchasing a refundable ticket.

Stroll Through Downtown Denver
Denver’s downtown blends both a Wild West and urban chic vibe. Hit up the 16th Street Mall to browse decades-old bookshops like Tattered Cover and buy cowboy apparel at Rockmount Ranch Wear. The RiNo neighborhood has played host to the Crush Walls event for 7 years, decorating the streets with incredible artworks.
Hike Around Red Rocks
These gorgeous red rocks jutting from the earth have been graced by thousands of musicians from the Beatles to The Grateful Dead to Depeche Mode. Built in 1941, this world-renowned Amphitheatre hosts incredible concerts, summer night movies, yoga, and more throughout the year. Catch a show or just come to hike the stairs and see the Red Rocks Museum at the top.

Whether you’re a nature lover or just like to escape the concrete jungle without leaving city limits, the Gardens are a must-visit. The Denver Botanic Gardens host the iconic Boettcher Tropical Conservancy 1960’s greenhouse, Mordecai Children’s Garden, the new Science Pyramid, the traditional Japanese Garden, and so much more to explore.

Denver’s food scene has blown up over the last few years with fantastic restaurants popping up all over town. Check out The Eater Denver to keep up with all of Denver’s best food news. All of our Flourish Farm restaurant customers are within 5 miles of the farm. Visit our partner restaurants such as The Populist, Acorn, The Plimoth, Comida, Cholon, Jax Fish House, The Preservery.
Gear Up for a Game at Coors Field
Watch the Colorado Rockies hit home runs at Coors Field—the park with the highest elevation in Major League Baseball. The beautiful stadium sits right on the edge of downtown facing the Rocky Mountains, which is why it boasts some of the most beautiful sunsets in the city. Not into baseball? Mile High Stadium, The Pepsi Center, and Dicks Sporting Goods Park are nearby as well.
Get Out of the City
If you have the time to rent a car and get out of the city, there are some amazing sights to see all within an hour drive of Denver. Rocky Mountain National Park is 45 min NW of Downtown where you will find breathtaking views, hiking, mountain biking, camping, and more. Just an hour’s drive south you can find Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.
